HELLO! DDRs (Dedicated Description Readers)!!

It’s currently 6:39am and my neck hurts. 😛
This video was a pain in the butt to make, and I probably won’t make any money off of it, but as long as it isn’t removed from YouTube, I’m hoping it’ll draw some new viewers to the new album my brother and I are working on! In case you haven’t seen it yet, here’s a sample of one of the more relaxing tracks we’re writing:

OH! Today was fun! I got to participate in a STEAM event at a school down in Rio Rico! I sang the National Anthem, flew my paramotor around for the students, and showed them an old Tesla Coil I built (along with answering questions about YouTube and stuff.) I was actually surprised how many of them knew who I was! It felt like a mini-convention (except I got to fly and shoot lightning bolts! XP) I don’t have a video of that yet, but I DO have a video of a particularly awesome sunset flight I had a few weeks ago! Totally Nil wind day, so I could fly incredibly low without having to worry about rotor! Here’s a clip:

Anyway, I’m flying to Mississippi this coming Tuesday (March 5th) so keep an eye out for new music, and possible another Genre Switching Challenge! 😉

I’m gonna go to sleep now… For twelve hours.

We can hardly wait until August 20th for all the explosive performances, unexpected celebrity appearances, and surprises in store. Did we mention that global superstar Jennifer Lopez is our Video Vanguard Honoree? The Bronx native will be accepting her award and performing some of her greatest hits live on stage! Until then, let’s kick back and revisit last year’s show. Kendrick Lamar’s fiery medley of “DNA.” and “HUMBLE.” where he LITERALLY set the stage ablaze, had everyone singing along as he opened the show. Then Katy Perry arrived to host in a space suit floating in the air. The ladies of Fifth Harmony showered the stage with an epic performance of “Down” and “Angel” featuring Gucci Mane, and Normani Kordei’s jaw dropping split. Miley Cyrus, a hosting alum, performed “Younger Now”, taking on a whole new look and sound which made for the perfect VMA comeback. Later that night, Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid sang their emotional suicide prevention anthem on stage and brought awareness to issues of mental health as well as the fight for equality. There were also show-stopping performances from Ed Sheeran, Demi Lovato, DNCE, Rod Stewart, Thirty Seconds To Mars, Shawn Mendes, Gucci Mane, Julia Michaels, Alessia Cara and KYLE. Video Vanguard P!nk completely transformed the VMA stage with a medley of her biggest hits, then accepted her award with a powerful speech about individuality and self-acceptance inspired by her daughter Willow, reminding those watching to be their true selves. Stay tuned for more announcements about this year’s show!

Soukouss Vibration Volume 7: Afrakan 🌍 Soukouss Dance Music!!!

Helloooo! Wondering what type of music it’s called? This rhythmic style is called Soukous!😀 From the central region of Afrika (Congo). A speeded up version of the Rumba. It was created in the late 1950’s by a group of Ibombon & Air Mambo in Brazzaville, Congo.

In the sixties, Sinza Kitoko pioneered the Soukous beat. The song “Veve” was very popular. The beat ended up being used by a group called Zaiko Langa Langa. In this period, also look out for Bavon Marie Marie & Negro Success. In 1976, an artist called Prince Nico Mbarga fused the Soukous beat with Makossa & Highlife to create the classic hit ” Sweet Mother”. This is the most famous song from Afrika! In 1978 a group called African All Stars with singers Sam Mangwana & Theo Blaise Kounkou modernized the Soukous beat. Lokassa Ya M’Bongo was the dynamic rhythm guitarist in this band

In the 1980’s, the Soukous scene moved to Paris since a lot of musicians were moving from Afrika. This is where the “World Music” scene was getting popular. An artist named Kanda Bongo Man made his debut in 1981 with the banger “Iyole”. Diblo Dibala was the guitar man! Kanda Bongo Man was very popular throughout the 1980s and 90’s with other hits such as “Sai”, “Monie”, “Bili”, “JT” and much more!

In 1986, Diblo Dibala created Loketo with singer dancer Aurlus Mabele.

In the 1990’s, many artists came such as Sah’lomon, Lucien Bokilo, Jean Baron, Freddy de Majunga, Dany Engobo & Les Coeurs Brises, Yondo Sister, Shimita, Lutchiana Mobulu, Alain Kounkou and many more. In 1997, a slowed version of Soukous called Ndombolo was created. Look out for Koffi Olomide & Quartier Latin, Fally Ipupa, Extra Musica, Felix Wazekwa, Wenge Musica, Zaiko Langa Langa, General Defao, Werrason, Patrouille des Stars, Eric. Many more!

This is the conclusion of the Soukouss Vibration series. All copyrights are reserved to Afro Rhythms and Ouattara. You can get this album here (, or The rest of the Soukous Vibration series are here – Vol.2 ( and, Vol.5 ( et, Vol.1 (
